“Château de Champ-Renard,

the charm of living”

40 kilometers north-west of Lyon lies the village of Blacé, which nestles in vine-covered hills in the heart of the Beaujolais region, the Château de Champ-Renard sits as it has since medieval times. The Marquis d’Espinay de Laye decided to convert Château de Champ-Renard into a vineyard in 1765.  At this time the ground-floor rooms, which are now at garden level, became cellars.

In 2014 Denis Garnier and Fabienne Vilain decided to purchase Château de Champ-Renard and undertook its restoration so as to turn it into their family home and give Champ-Renard back all its former glory and vitality.

Our respect of the soil’s biological makeup, the way we work the soil and our use of grass, manual harvesting when the grapes reach maturity, sustainable disease protection, all contribute to the quality of our Domaine’s grapes.

To help us in this respect, we have chosen to sign up to Terra Vitis, an high environmental value certification recognised by the French Agricultural Ministry.

We at Château de Champ-Renard are particularly attached to our traditions and the wine matures in the Château’s traditional vat room.  We give priority to the fruit rather than to the extraction – quality over quantity – so as to adequately express the richness of the Terroir. We seek to produce quality wines.  This is why all the different stages of wine production take place at the Château, enabling optimum traceability.
